Great forum and thanks for the batlabs site. I have used the site many times and will organise a paypal donation. Is there a normal donation amount that people make ??

I have a quick question that I'm hoping somebody may have the answer to.

I have a motorola R-1150B code synthesiser. For those that dont know it, it is used for testing pagers. It creates the required signals to feed into my RF signal generator.

Unfortunately, when you power it up (default mode), it is in GSC mode (golay) which is pretty useless, we dont use golay here any more.

I would like to know the key sequence to put it into pocsag mode. I have done a bit of searching on the internet and I can find many links to places that will sell me an R-1150, but none with the info I am after.

I have worked with a lot of motorola radio gear in the 20+ years in the industry. If I can answer any questions here on this forum, I will !!

Here is how you load the registers for digital paging.

Numeric pocsag 512 baud-3, store, 0, capcode, then function code.
Numeric poc, 1200 baud-4, store, 0, capcode, function code.
Alpha poc, 512 baud-4, store, 0, capcode, function code.
Alpha poc, 1200baud-4, store, 0, 1, store, 4, capcode, function code.
Golay numeric-1, store, 0, capcode, 7, 0.
Golay voice-1, store, 0, capcode, 1, 0.

If your code synthesizer has the R1151 upgrade, you may do flex.

Flex numeric-7, store, 0, capcode.
Flex alpha-8, store, 0, capcode.

Are the numeric 1200 and alpha 512 supposed to be the same ?

Call the Test Equipment Service Depot at 1-800-323-6967. They will talk/walk you through the operation of the encoder. Ask for Harold.

I also have a recently purchased R-1150B that I'm trying to use for pocsag. Does anyone have a more detailed process for setting up the registers. What is the function code refered to in these posts?
