quantar "remote base" setup

i am in need of a link receiver for my quantar station.

specifics:

VHF Quantar, 660ft amsl on a bridge - NOT very accessible.

what i would like to do is place a VHF astro tac receiver at a remote site - the astrotac will feed a UHF maxtrac/CDM to link back to the quantar.

on the quantar, i would like to install a second receiver - UHF (of course) to "hear" the feed from the UHF maxtrac...

reasoning: i don't want to lose astro repeat on the local site.

if i utilize an outboard controller, i lose astro repeat functionality... and i don't want to do that...hence the idea to utilize the extra slot in the quantar for the UHF receiver.....

has anyone done this before?

thoughts?

I a bit unclear on what you want to you.

Do I understand you have a Quantar base station.

It is presently functioning as an in-cabinet VHF repeater, listening on F-sub-Vin and transmitting on F-sub-Vout.

You want to add a UHF receiver to the second receiver slot, so that if the UHF receiver goes active, the station repeats what it hears on F-sub-Uin over F-sub-Vout?
