I'm trying to program my Maxtrac Trunked radio and every time i try to get the software to read the system key from the disk that was given to me, the rss tells me the archive path was not found. I have tried everything i could think of including making changes in the rss configuration menu and still nothing will work.

Read the "800 MHz trunking system questions" posts, they will possibly answer your questions..

You need to modify the setup of the software and tell the computer where the file is located.

What is involved here?

Is it like adding codeplugs where the .mdf file has to be altered, too?

If it's a real system key file, all you need to do is go to your set-up screen (F9,F3 from the main menu) and change the "Sys Key" path to wherever the file resides. If it's all by itself on a floppy disk, just type in "A:" Then hit "F8" to save the configuration. Then hit "F4" to read the system key file. It's important to do that last step, otherwise the program won't recognize the system key. As long as you've saved the configuration, you won't have to do any of that again, the RSS will automatically read the system key file whenever you start up the program. UNLESS it's on a floppy disk, then you'll have to do the "F4-read sys key" everytime you run the program. Much better to put it in a folder on your hard drive, then you don't need to worry about it.
