s-10 install pics

Post by radiocomms95 »

Hi everyone. I have a Chevy s-10, and am thinking of re-mounting my equipment. I would like some pics of other people's s-10 or blazer installations. I have a 60/40 split seat. I'll put pics of my current installation up on my website in a day or two.

Thanks

I like your installation. The problem with S-10's is the 60/40 seat. It leaves no room for a console, thus you get the "spaghetti effect" behind the equipment. But that's when you get to be creative!

I just switched ISP's, and started a new website. It's at http://home.insightbb.com/~chip448/wsb/ ... html-.html

It's still in the rough, and no mobile pics yet - hopefully this afternoon.

Ford Ranger: Gamber-Johnson Ford explorer console. Factory console was removed and replaced. Since this isn't a bucket seat truck the mounting plate was reversed to fit between the seats and dash panel.

These pics are few months old. We've since installed a switch box, adjusted the placement of the radios and those old MT1000 portables are long gone.

Note tired installer giving us the bird! lol

I'm not sure why it did that - I just updated the page last night. Anyway, I think I have the issue solved, and the link is working again.

Thanks for the heads up.

I see the "old" pics, but not the last three "new" ones.

Bummer.

That little console in the Ranger is cute. That's the seat arrangement I have. I wish I'd known I could find a console like that that would fit. Oh well, too late now.

Pics soon.

Gamber Johnson actully has a specific S10 (at least Blazer) floormount and package for the vehicle, but its not listed in the catalog. I actually still had the floor mount for it up until 6 months ago,but no one wanted it so I chucked it.

I believe the console is exacly 9 inches across and mounts flush with the seats, making it nice and neat.

Nice install PJ.

How well can you see that Icom behind the laptop? It looks hard to get to in the pics.

It was, but 99% of the time it was locked on APRS. Since I had 128 channels in all 3 x9000's, I threw all the ham stuff in those...100 vs 50 watts... Hmmmm

after many months of working on a new setup for the s10, i finally have one. There's an empty bracket for my switchbox (I have amber flashers in the grille and on the truckbox).

Hey RadCom, where did you get the tall (long) brackets? I've been looking for ones like that for a little while now.

Joe,
The rack is a gamber johnson floormaster from sirennet.com - it was about $85 if I remember right. The brackets are 6" long on one leg and 5" long on the other, to accomodate radios 6" wide and wider. If you're looking for a sturdy, easy to assemble rack, this is it.
