Local wants me to install a cutout for the brake and reverse lights in his car, i've told him about all the bad things that could happen and on other cars, much older models i add an LED or an existing light before the relay so if the lights are off, the indicator light is on, make it a little harder to drive with them off. Private investagator, want to make tailing people at night easier, my question is what is the best and safest way of doing it, without screwing up the press brake to shift, and without going all the way to the bulbs to place relays. Any advice, as to how to do it the best way? Thanks guys.

Don't do it - tell him to go elsewhere.

First, I'm sure it's a violation of the MV Code, wherever you are, for a private vehicle to operate on a public roadway without functioning brake and/or backup lights.

Second, if you were to do this, and the nitwit got rear-ended by a citizen due to no brake lights, and the citizen found out about the disable switch, who do you think is going to be named in the civil lawsuit as a co-defendant?

(I'll give you a hint - it wouldn't be me. I wouldn't do it. Period.)

I know how to do it with 2 30 amp relays under the dash.... But to back up Moto's argument. Its probably best left to LE vehicles.. Private dicks dont qualify in my book..Even now federal / Unitrol TM series sirens dont come with the option anymore. If you send one in for factory repair you need a signed waiver if you want the option left in.
