E&M Signalling in a TenSr channel bank

I have an E&M card were ports 1-8 are used for 4 wire audio. Does anyone know if I can use E&M signalling on top of the audio for intrusion alarms? I know it can be done with the alarm card but I don't have one.

thanks

Actually, it shouldn't matter what kind of channel bank it is. If you are simply using the audio path, then the signalling leads are available for other uses. Set it up for type II signalling - that way it's isolated contact in on one end = isolated contact out on the other. If it's C.B. to C.B., you're all set. If the T goes thru a DACS, then the path for EACH DS0 has to be mapped for robbed bit signalling. One thing to be aware of is that configuring a channel for robbed bit signalling vs. T.O. changes the fidelity of the channel slightly. The actual signaling transitions have no effect. For radio (audio) it doesn't matter. For high speed modems, it matters.
