New Federal Signal 650 Remote siren

Post by jedi_saber »

Does anyone know anything about this unit? I need to install a remote lights and siren controller in a vehicle where space is at premium. I have an SVP handheld controller at disposal, but find it to big and awkward to use... All I need to do is active 1 or 2 LED circuits and run a 100w speaker.

I hate to admit to this, but the only place I have found this unit for sale is Galls. http://www.galls.com/style.html?assort= ... 40&cat=317
Just wanted to see if anyone knew anything about this unit or a place to get this noisemaker at a better price? Thanks!

Reading the product description and looking at the installation manual, I find it has airhorn, manual, wail and priority tones. What happened to yelp (not that the newer FedSig sirens, such as SS have a decent yelp to brag about)?

I wonder if that could be modified to run the Unitrol 80K amp...??? 8) Or for that matter, if you could find a heavy duty remote through some electronics company that could be hooked up to an amp. But then if you want the remote to have a mic for the PA function....

I've seen and played with that FS unit...sounds just like a SS2000, and I do believe it had yelp or priority - but not both at the same time. I'm pretty sure it was yelping at me when I played with it.

All in all, I wasn't impressed. It's weird to use if you are used to anything with a normal layout.
Do not make Sig angry...he'll just keep ringing the bell.
