MSF5000

Post by wilcox »

I would like to know if any one has interface a link com or cat 300 to a MSF5000 CLB. If so I hope some one can help with this.

Thanks
Wilcox

oh the humanity!

yes, it can be done.

CLB = analog prom station

#1 you need to burn a prom with your input and output freqs and program the MSF as a DUPLEX BASE STATION. *NOT* a repeater...

i'll dig up the rest and get it to you... it's not difficult, but it's not easy either.

Hello,
I am having a very similar problem. I have a CAT 300DX controller and a MSF CXB uhf repeater. I have been able to get thing to work, sort of.

I wound up moifying a capacitior in the cat to allow it to pass pl. I still can't get the unit to work well. It will not send the courtesy beep or voice over PL. I havn't figured out how to interface the CAT to allow the internal MSF controller to pass pl around the cat controller, but still let the cat control audio and tx/rx.
It is not as easy as it sounds. I gave up and re installed my zetron 38 and put the cat on the shelf.

Here are some connection points from a zetron unit for an analog MSF, this should start you off.

1. 12 Volts DC- J800 Pins 1 and 2 or TB601 on power supply
2. DC ground- J800 Pins 7 and 8 or TB601 GND on power supply
3. PTT NO- J801 Pin 14
4. COR Input- Test Point 6 (0.5v, 2.9v US)
5. TX Audio- Via 33Kohm Resistor to U834 Pin 13 (1vpp=3khz)
6. CTCSS/DCS encode- Via 33kohm resistor to Wiper of R889 IDC pot (3vpp=750khz)
7. Discriminator In- Test Point 3 (3khz=1vpp)

A)All connections go to the PCB
B)Set AccDis" switch Up

****Note that this connection list is for a zetron unit, and just gives a point of reference I guess to start from for your CAT project....Good Luck, Rob********

Here's the way I interfaced an external controller:
Rx Audio at test point #2
Cor at tp#7
Ptt at tp#9
Tx audio at tp#8
Pl detect was grabbed off of U829
The only one that isn't straight forward was pl detect, maybe batdude has a better way

i tried for an hour to find the fax that i received for this hookup

contact the guys that make the RAIDER LTR controller (marauder?) i can't remember offhand - but they faxed me a 4 page sheet for an analog station that went into LTR service using their controller and it worked just fine...

PL detect is a PITA unless you are adept at using the wildcard to decode it off the MUXbus.... (which i am not)

HI Doug,

I will give them a call and see if they have a copy.
If you are like me I put it in the book and then I can't find it. Hi Hi
I hope I can get this going with my controller soon.

Thanks
