WHILE TRYING TO PROGRAM A SABER III VHF MY DISPLAY IS EITHER ALL LITE UP OR GIVES ME A 08 BLANK EEPROM MESSAGE, WHEN F8 IS PUSHED
IT GIVES A ERR10D MESSAGE AND COMPLETES PROGRAMMING BUT WHEN IT IS FINISHED THE RADIO LOCKS UP AND JUST BEEPS......HELP PAT

Others will certainly jump in here to help you, but in the interim, these questions:

1. Can you read the radio using your
current setup?
2. What computer are you using and at what
speed?
3. Are you running true DOS?
4. Does your RSS version match what is
now in the radio?

If you CAN read the radio, first thing to do is to save a copy of the codeplug as it now exists.

Let us know what happens and what you are doing in some more detail.

i am running a 486/40 laptop with a dos boot disk software version 7.01 i think the eeprom memory is blank as when i read the radio there is no channel info just tells
what model number. is there a way to program
without an exsisting memory as now the radio just beeps and the number display stays on
fully with no error code?? it does give the write cope 5 code when writting and goes thru process of writing but when it finishes
it the dispaly is unchanged..help pat

You're just about at the limit of my "expertise" on this subject, but two things occur to me based on what you've written.

First is the error codes you listed do mean a blank eeprom. Second is that you might be trying to dump in a program which is outside the range of your radio. Or to put it another way, you have the "wrong" split for what you want to program.

One other thing, and someone sharper than I will have to advise you, is that an incompatible plug-in unit of some kind has been put into your radio by someone.

To repeat your call: SOMEONE, HELP!!!

ALSO TOM THE RADIO WAS PROGRAMMED WITH A COUPLE OF CHANNELS WHEN I GOT IT BUT NOW THAT I TRY TO PROGRAM IT THE ABOVE LIKE I TOLD YOU HAPPENS. IS THERE A WAY TO LOAD A PROFILE INTO THE RADIO SO IT RECOGNIZES THE PROGRAMMING SOFTWARE?? PAT
