Is there a way to turn the ac charger for the STX into a DC charger to run off the cig. lighter? The charger has to change to DC to charge the STX battery..right?? or is there a special cig. lighter charger made? thanks

Your best bet for a mobile charger for the STX is to find a convert-a-com. If you can find a convert-a-com for an older MX, that will work as well. There are only 2 connections you have to change to make it work for the STX.

To convert the basic 110ac charger, you'd have to gut the circuit and replace it with a 12 to 7.5 voltage regulator. Somewhere I've got a schematic for a regulator we used to use to run the STX's directly off the cig plug.
