Here is a link to some information on the control head and microphone modifications for Systems 9000 control head dual radios:

Mike,
Thanks for the info. Any idea on the part number for the control head firmware. The 1036 is a DIP head, so apparently with the right firmware you can use these heads with dual radio as well. Interesting.

The HCN1036 DIP head has its firmware inside the microprocessor chip (factory programmed and the part itself has not been made in years). The standard microprocessor chip has not been available from Motorola for years.
Can anyone out there supply the part number off of the microprocessor chip of a HCN1036ESP04 control head?
Maybe Motorola still has some left over chips in stock?
I am not really sure the special firmware is "really" needed except for catching an error from the secondary radio on power up? It will take some experimentation to find out.

The only thing that I have noticed with the 1063A head, is that the self check routine is abou a sec or two longer than a non dual setup. I haven't had any problems with error messages showing up.
Interesting though
