I just picked up a used LFL, the bar was a demo and in gret shape. I have installed it, and it works great. My problem is that I cannot get the bar to change flash patterens. The bar is equiped with 4 corner strobes, and six LED's, TD and alley's. I have tried to change the LED patteren as well, no dice. Do all the LFL's have scan lock? Also how many strobes will the power supply support, and how many LED's will the flasher support. The bar only has one power supply.
TIA

The early verisons of the LFL Patriot uses a "personaility" chip that is in the bar. The most you can do is change the strobe patterns from:
Comet
Long Burst
Action flash
The LED and/or halogen flasher pattern is controlled by the chip. We have two bars like this.
The next version got rid of the chip (but still available) had the same strobe control as above, but no real LED pattern control. However, you could get the scanlock cable control that would allow you to do anything with any of the warning lights.
The current verison for the LFL, Ultra, 9M lines has built-in to the control cable a wire that will allow you to control on the fly the strobe pattern. Another wire does the LED patterns. However, the flash pattern will effect all strobe or all LED's. You can also get a scanlock cable for this, so that you can assign a different flash pattern to each pair of lights.
You can contact whelen and you can order a new chip to tell the bar what you want it to do. I don't know the cost off hand, and I am not sure if there is a retrofit kit out to make it a more standard bar, but I will see what I can dig up.

Thanks for the help. I have found out the strobe PS is a four outlet, and the bar will operate 12 LED's. It is an older bar with the LFTA personality mod in it. This allows the flashing TD & alley lights. For the SCANLOCK a new IO board is needed.
If any of ya'll have a set of R-B LED's (500 series) you would like to part with please send me a msg. I might be in the market for a second LFL strobe power supply too.
Thanks again-
Steve

With the LFL's, you now have 3 different types of LED's available. The panels (20mm?) LEDS, the TIR6, and the Linear8. All perform well. The Linear8's are used on the Liberty's and the newer mirror beams and all kick ass.
1st one is pretty directional. #2 is damn bright has works well at angles, and #3 flashes like a strobe tube.
