we are getting astro sabers in the 150-174 range. The antennas are rather long. Is there a shorter version antenna that can replace the ones currently installed

Yes, there is one that's a little shorter, but trust me, you don't want it. The standard large antenna (tapered) works so much better than the shorter ones it isn't even funny.

Go to those shorter antennas and people will think their radios are broken.

What radios do you own?: X9000 thru APX

I have both. Went back to the wide band antenna. With the "sub"band antennas, anything out of its rated range dropped right off so quickly it wasn't funny. You get use to them quick, and they seem to be more durable.
