Can anyone tell me where the setting for ignition sense is in the program? All I can find is ignition switch. Thanks

That's it. You'll probably want to set it to Soft Power Off, that makes it follow ignition, but can be turned on with the power button even when ignition is off.

Yeah thats what i had it set to and the installer said I programmed it wrong. Thanks for the help!

As usual, Moto can't be consistent from one model to the next, I think there's a guy there who's only job is ignition sense, so he has to come up with a new way to do it each time...

The MCS doesn't even give you an option for the radio to ONLY follow ignition, yet they give you 2 different ways of doing TX Inhibit (something I have yet to have a need for in the hundreds of radios I've done in the last 10 years). They couldn't add one more option?

I like the CM series... nothing for me to do for ignition, no programming, no jumpers, it's left to the installers to wire it one way or the other. One less thing to blame on me ;)

Yes...run the main power lead to constant power, and run the ignition sense wire from pin 15 to an ignition switched power source.

I am having a similar problem with our MCS2000 radio and the Boss having two ideas on how ignition should work. He likes the soft power off feature, but he is also concerned for the security of the radio when the officer is out of the car.

At this time you can still turn on the radio and transmit on it with no key in the car. It's possible to disable transmit with ignition, but then the battery runs down because the radio won't shut off on its own (our officers are lazy like that) Is their a way to disable the On/Off switch in RSS so that the radio will not turn on without ignition? Based on what I have read so far, I don't think I am going to have much luck.

Your assumptions are correct...the power switch cannot be disabled in the RSS. You'd have to physically disable it somehow in order to get it to do what he wants.

Right under the Ignition Switch setting is Auto Power Off. You could set it up for TX Inhibit and set the timer and then if they left the radio on it would power off by itself after a minimum of 2 hours. That should keep it from killing the vehicle battery.

The problem here is that if they don't use the radio for that amount of time, ie. transmit or push a button, it will power off whether ignition is on or off. The radio is supposed to give an alert for 2 minutes before it shuts down, allowing the user to reset it.

Well I would figure logically if they can deal with no soft power and the radio resetting. You could just tie the main power and ignition in to switched power. This is not ideal and takes away from the soft power feature. This would be one option if they are worried on security. Just throwing it out there.

Yeah, you could put the main power on an ignition switched relay. Another alternative to using the radio auto power off is using a charge guard.

I have a question I have my MCS200 programmed for soft power off right now but I am looking for the radio to follow the ignition what is the easiest way for me to do that? I do have the Ignition wire hooked up.
