Does anyone have a pic of a Vision on a Ram

Got my new truck and have worked a deal for a Premium Vision, But I am having second thoughts on putting the lightbar on the truck.

I have a regular cab 97 and I am afraid the Vision will look funny on it since it will take up most of the roof.

If anyone has a pic or any expirience with this setup, let me know please

Thanks
Tim

Personally, I would have second thoughts about putting that thing on any vehicle... but that's just me.

Here is a GMC pickup for comparision...with the CHP "high rise" kit so it clears the utility box to the rear:

And a new body style Tahoe, just for kicks:

Does anyone know how high the lightbar will set above the cab. I ordered the standard feet and the hook on mounting kit of the ram.

There are some people who love these, and some who hate them. I guess I would like to hear both sides of the story.

I got the bar in a trade, got the controler in a trade, and need to buy new domes (cant have red and blue) and need to get new power and interconnect cable for the bar.

I have led lights in grille and rear window, a led sho-me lightstick above mirror, and this would be the last thing, I just havent decided whether it goes on the truck or the auction block.

I will make the final decision when it gets here and sits on the truck.

I mounted a vector on to a Jeep Grand and it look good.

You were talking about the domes. What I did was to get the clear domes and street hawk filters. I cut down the filters and mounted them to the rotators, with the clear dome you have to get up close to see what color thay are.

With the clear domes and filters I get a flash patern that is white / yellow / white from one pod.

I also swaped the slow(12v) motors with the fast(9v) motors and mounted the smart pods to the out side. I now get 875 fpm from the pods, 350 fpm from the smart pods for a total of 1225 fpm from all of the pods turned on, and with the triple flash, It is one hell of a bright Light Bar.

I can send you info on the convertion and a patern of the the filters along with photos if you are interested.

Be advised:

Unless the controller firmware and the lightbar firmware are the same, the system will not function correctly or at all. You really cannot piece-meal the Vision system together. It needs to bought as a complete working unit, or the odds are very high that it won't work.

In this case, check on firmware -before- applying power to the unit. If they are the same, then hook it all up and see if it works. If it works to specs, then put it on you truck.

If the firmware is different, then either auction it off as a non-working unit (be sure to declare the firmware mis-match, or else the buyer will be very pissed when he gets a non-working unit), or contact Federal Signal for the correct, matched firmware.

I am waiting to get everything in hand, then check firmware and buy replacement parts that I need.

I have checked with federal, and the prices for firmware are not that bad.

Thanks for the help though

It took some time, but I lowered the bar by repunching the holes in the mount. I think it looks good.

Again more time was spent rechecking the connections on the bar inorder to keep the control head from throwing an error code.

thanks for the help!
