Do you need the actual glass mount antenna, or interior parts?

The actual antenna is an Antenna Specialists design, and may very be an un-labeled AS antenna.

If I remember the GM data on this, the Onstar is a simple, analog cellphone, so could use any 800 mHz antenna, like a rooftop NMO mount with a 5db gain elevated feed antenna, which would pretty much guarantee good operation in any location.

Correct.

I took the glass mount off my back window, and use a 3 db pigtail 800 MHz NMO antenna, to match the other pigtail for my county 800 radio.
