I'm possibly looking at my uncles used 2002 trailblazer ls

It's all decked out with just about every option out there.

I looked at a 2003 as a used car lot by me....I was at a complete loss as to where to mount a radio/control head

any thought or pictures would be appreciatted

my inhitial thoughts were the following:

spectra with hhch

ava w/display mic

edit: forgot option 3 - screw radios, run a handheld, hide the geek factor

Judging by the pics I've seen I'd find a way to put an A3/A5/A7 Spectra head right in front of where the cup holder is. Or, a CDM head there. I've had good results with the CDM mobiles I've owned or used and I like the RJ48 flat cable for remote setup. It hides better than the bulky Spectra remote cables.

I just remembered some company sells vehicle-specific brackets. They install on the mounting locations on your in-dash radio. It's basically an L-arm. You can then mount your cellphone holder on the bracket that comes out from the radio. You might be able to mount a head unit there. You've got options. They just aren't pretty.

Both Panavise (http://www.panavise.com/) and Pro-Fit (http://www.pro-fit-intl.com/) make vehicle-specific mounts that might be worth looking in to...

LOL! Yeah, handling portables while driving sucks. Believe you me, you'd wanna mount that mobile pretty soon. (that just doesn't sound right  :o :D )

Realizing the trailblazer question has passed, I did want to say that I have a SM50 mounted in a family members Trailblazer. Glass mount antenna. Keep in mind, they don't need to change channels or scan, only ops on my repeater. But, I mounted it up under the passenger side dash, under the glove box and all the way to the right. There is a flat space there big enough for a SM50/SM120/M1225. I used the bracket and made sure the screws were SHORT! I run a extenstion cable for the mic under the carpet and over to the center console under the dash, mic plugs in there. Besides the Mic laying there, you can't see anything else. Just though I would share.

thanks!!!
this is what it's all about sharing!!! well it turns out that i receive the vehicle THIS WEEK!!!so thus begins the install... compared to what most of the folks have in their vehicles on here.. I should have a problem... But when it comes to antennas i'm drilling, none of that glass stuff for me... same with my cellular antennas.. GPS will be magnetic though... I'll post install pic's when it's all finished... it will the all the pro's on here something to chuckle about..
thanks for sharing
happy new year..
better get dressed....times square awaits!
