Adding alert tones to the end of QC-II on a centracom gold?

Ok, so I figured out how to enter the QC-II tones fine and dandy. Now, the 3 million dollar question... how do you add the typical warble/alternating/broken whatever alert sound to the end of the page?? I do not see ANYTHING about that anywhere. The thing must be able to do it.

I can't remember if you can slave those to specific tone sets or not.

Most dispatch centers I know of just use the "alert" tone sets maunally after sending out the QCII.

At least that's how we didi it on our console - page out then hold the alert 1 or 3 button then tx your voice message.

That's how it's been done for any Centracom console I've seen. If it can be done automatically, I haven't come across it.

The duration of the paging tones, inter-tone gaps, and the presence or absence of an automatic alerting tone following the paging tones are all established by the paging format you select.

There are four standard QC-II formats:
B = 1.0 sec / 3.0 sec. [Tone & Voice]
C = 0.4 sec. / 0.8 sec. [Tone Only]
D = 2.7 sec. / 0.8 sec. [Battery Saver]
E = 2.7 sec. / 0.8 sec. plus alerting tone [Competitive]

All of these format timing characteristics are established by the BIM firmware. This feature was part of the original CCII 6809 design 20 years ago and is still part of the latest Gold Elite systems.

The format can be altered for custom applications by ordering an SP BIM firmware from the System Support Center. The total of all paging tone, gaps, and alerting tones must be less than 20 seconds.

This design means that you can have system specific SP paging on a per-channel basis.

Ah, the "competative" thing did it. Now, for the 3 Million and One dollar question, can the funky alerting tone at the end be changed?

I'm a little confused. Did the pagers actually alert with the "E" default timings, or can they be changed? I was under the impression the timing was hard-set & could only be changed via BIM firmware.

The only difference in timing was the second tone in the sequence was shorter. But that tone can be as long or short as you want it to be.

I am far from a expert, but back in my dispatching days, all the fire dept tones in our console that had PLECTRON tones had the automatic alert tone, and the ones with standard QC did not.

SO maybe the format has something to do with it ? QC, PLECTRON, REACH, GE, 2 cans and a string ?

Damn I wished they would have sent me to Centracom school.
