I have a GR1225 that seems to be having some odd issues (or demonic posession).

The radio works fine as a stand-alone repeater. Audio goes in, audio comes out, everything is happy and works properly.

If you plug in a local mic and key it, even briefly, the unit hangs in TX until the power is cycled.

On the other hand, grounding pin 3 on the rear accessory connector does exactly nothing.

Any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated.

Yup.... had that issue as well. Make sure you have a Radius mic and not the one with the LED in it. I tried several mics and found something keeps it keyed, most likely RF getting into the PTT circuit. The HMN 3000 desk mic seems to work OK with it though.

That seemed to be part of the problem. I originally tested it using a CDM and a MTR2000/MCS mic. I went back up and tried it again with a "black & white". The odd thing is, the behavior is inconsistent. When I first plugged in the black & white, the first time I keyed it, it stayed keyed for 5-10 seconds, then operated normally. I tried it again with the CDM mic which worked several times before locking up. Weird.

Unfortunately, that is the lesser half of my current problem, since this repeater will really not be seeing any local mic use. My bigger problem is the lack of a PTT response from the accessory connector, since I am currently loooking to interface an external controller to the unit. Switching or removing the local mic had no effect on the fact that grounding pin 3 would not key the TX.

I HAVE A GR1225 WITH A 120R CONTROLLER. WHEN USING THE I20R WITH NO CONTROLLER IT WORKS GREAT AS A REPEATER. WHEN THE I20R TELL THE GR1225 TO TRANSMIT THE I20R LOOSES POWER THEN AFTER THE TRANSMIT REQUEST STOPS THE I20R POWERS BACK UP. I HAVE THE FACTORY I20R CABLE TO GR1225. THE RSS IS CORRECT. WHEN I CHANGE THE REPEATERS FREQ THE GR1225 AND I20R WORK GREAT TOGETHER. THE UNIT HAS A BUILT IN DUPLEXER TUNED TO RX467.6500 TX462.6500. I HAVE TRIED DIFFRENT ANTENNAS HAD THE DUPLEXER RETUNED USING RG8 CABLE. ALL ITEMS IN THIS UNIT ARE FACTORY. ANTENNA IS MORE THAN 35 FEET AWAY FROM UNIT. IF YOU UNPLUG THE TX OF THE I20R THE UNIT RECEIVES AUDIO (SHOWS IN COR) BUT DOES NOT CUT OFF. I HAVE HAD THE GR1225 TETUNED ALSO.

Did you not notice that everyone here only uses the shift key for the first letter of the first word in a sentence? I can hardly make out heads or tails in your post.

Also, you should have created a new post since your question has nothing to do with the initial post.

Try to see if your problem is solved when you use a dummy load for an antenna or if the problem disappears when the antenna is located outside. I have noticed in several cases that with the antenna located inside when using UHF repeaters with the GR and GM cabinets near the antenna, the repeater acts up.

Sorry about the caps. I do not have a dummy load but I disconnected the antenna and keyed the repeater (i know this is bad) from a portable and it worked great. Connected the antenna again and it lost power to the I20R upon PTT.

The antenna is indoors with a duplexer.

Additionally, the I20R I am using works great between two Martracs.

I moved the antenna outside and that fixed my problem. Nand thank you so much for your advice. Before I thought I would have to buy another repeater. RF obviously does alot of strange things. Maybe motorola should had shielded the r1225 better. HA!
