Advisor Gold Problem

Have an advisor gold, when bumped the battery gauage shows the battery as being dead and if paged it only chirps instead of being alerted to the set duration. It was taken apart and the local dealer and they stated that one of the chips that moisture in it. Is there a way to fix this rather that getting a new one?

If your pager has suffered some kind of water dmamge, it would be best to replace it if possible. Even if the repair depot were able to get it working again, there could be a chance that water might have worked its way into another part of the pager and other problems won't show until much later (outside of the warranty period).

The pager has never been exposed to water that I know of. That is what puzzles me? And if it was it was a real small amont. The pager works it just that when it gets bumped the battery gauge goes low and the light is real dim.

Im not clear what the problem could be from your description, but there is no way that moisture could be "in" a chip. I would get a second opinion from another vendor if you can. even if there is some signs of moisture damage, they should still be able to clean it up and send it off to a pager repair company like MINILEC. they have a flat rate that is cost effective and they stand behind their work. the only problem is that they have a long turn around time.

when I used to repair these the problem you describe ususlly was a result of the battery connections being loose. resoldering the solder connections and cleaning the contacts usually does the trick

Your advice would be correct for the older Advisor. Not the Advisor Gold. The battery contacts are not soldered on the Advisor Gold. One possibility is dirty contacts between the battery contacts and the board itself, although it's not soldered.
