Whelen and Sho-Me make one
http://www.rimindustries.com/whelen/Pow ... Sirens.htm
they are expensive.. the sho-me is $185
I'd just buy some old siren for $75 and be done with it.

Code 3 makes one of their V-Conn units that has only PA, airhorn, and radio rebroadcast functionality, along with a pursuit switch and four 20-amp pushbutton switches.
I've got one sitting in a box. One of the pushbuttons needs replacing (doesn't make good contact), but you can either not use it or call Code 3 and order a new button (they aren't too pricey). If you're interested, drop me a PM and maybe we can work something out.

Whelen came out with one just for that purpose a few yerars ago. The exact model escapes me, but Galls sells them as well, and were around $100 or so. Two models...one with airhorn only, and the other with airhorn/PA

Unitrol has a nice unit - sadly, an expensive one, too. It is the UTMPA6. Just like the regular Touchmaster series, but w/out the siren tones. A tech at Federal says (I don't know that I believe him) that you can successfully hook two 100-watt speakers to this thing, too, not just the 100w the literature says it's rated at.

What would one need with an Airhorn/PA only unit?

Some agencies/laws do not allow the use of standard siren tones and they are only allowed to use an air horn for warning, and PA is just a "toy" feature to yell at old people on the street...lol...

question with regard to the systems 9000 sirens... if I program one for airhorn/pa and get pulled over and the question is "can it make a siren tone".... ?
1) Yes, if you work really hard at it or know exactly how to
2) No. And get a lawyer if it goes much futher.

3) If your radio/amp loses main power, the next time you hit the siren button, the Systems 9000 amp will go straight into wail, even if you have no siren tones programmed and are on "manual".

Code 3 VCom is probably the best option, there is a model you can buy that only does airhorn/switches, I have set a few up for Volunteer Fire people around here like that. Other than that, if you pick up a used vcom, you can take it apart, and just snip the leads for functions you don't want, if you shop around a used vcom only runs about $80, about the cheepest option, plus it integrates the switching options.

That's what I used to run before upgrading to a siren unit. If anyone's interested in one, I've got a Vconn with airhorn/PA only in good condition that's available for the right price!

Exactly. So pass on it or omit facts?
