MTX8000 Model-1 is the closest thing as far as I know.

I tried making one but was never sucessfull. If you look in the HT1000 rss it refers to bandsplits all the way to 1200 Mhz.
I tried shoving one of these splits into an HT1000 controller and then hooked it to an MTX 800 RF deck. No joy.

There out there but not that common. I've only seen a few and they were part of construction companys conventional 800mhz radio system in the Kansas City area.
There just arn't that many systems that use them out there. Doesn't the LA fire dept. use an 800 conventaional system? Anybody know what type of radio they use?

I've built a couple. One of the campus safety offices in the area uses them. They'll do everything a VHF or UHF HT1000 will do, just in a different frequency range.

Mostly XTS series now, but still plenty of STX's running around (Ha, Motorola just flipped it)

I don't suppose you could send a codeplug my way Tony? Just for curiosity's sake, I've never seen an 800MHz HT1000.

We have about 100 of them in daily use at my job. Had most of them over ten years now. They replaced the MX350 (360?) series.
We also have MT2000s mixed in now too, but the HT1000s were the mainstay for a long time.
And I've also seen them on ebay from time to time. If I could pick one up on ebay, I think I would. Would like to clone myself one for work LOL.

Don't quite understand all the fanfare it's basically a conventional only MTX8000. There's one up on EBay at the moment with a $140. BIN if someone wants one.

I know this is a stupid question and I should know the answer.
But I'll ask anyway.
The HT1000 and the Visar radios both use the same RSS. The Visar was available in a Type II trunking version, so this means that the HT1000/Visar RSS "knows" what trunking is all about.
Would it be possible to make an HT1000 do trunking? I realize a B3 MTX8000 would do exactly the same thing, easier and cheaper, but it'd be an interesting hack project if it could be done.
Also. The Visar did 800MHz Type II. Would there be some way to hack a VHF Visar to do Type II? I've never played with a Visar, hardware wise, so I have no idea if you can even swap out the RF boards, but in theory, you could swap out the 800MHz board and put in a VHF board, could you not?
Er...potiential roadblock I can think of... VHF trunking needs the programmer to put in offsets and all that business, but 800MHz doesn't.
Yeah, I guess I answered my own question on that one... duh... But none the less, I'm still curious about the possibility of making an HT1000 do trunking.

you probably can make a convetional ht1000 do trunking, but seriously...why wouldn't you just get an mtx8000 b3....trunking, conventional, MDC it has it all....I have an easier way to make an ht1000 do trunking, buy an mtx8000 and put an ht1000 sticker on it. case closed.

Never personally seen an 800MHz HT1000, but if it is based on an HT1000 controller, it doesn't have the firmware support to do trunking or support a display, etc. The HT1000 is based on what the service manual states is a closed architecture controller, and has only 640 bytes of EEPROM for c/p storage and limited ROM for firmware. Trunking data and support firmware needs much more room than is in there.
The typical MTX8000/MT2000/MTS has at least 256K of RAM and the firmware ROM is much larger (or in the case of Flashport controllers, is 512K for Flash upgrades of f/w).
Also the trunked Visars use a totally different RSS package than the conventional HT1000/Visar/JT1000 RSS. Visar Privacy Plus RSS only supports 800 and 900MHz PP radios. And those are also very limited due to the controllers being so bare, they don't support conventional operation or scan or much of anything compared to the conventional VHF or UHF Visar which at least does most of what an HT1000 will do (minus the ABC toggle and one side button) as far as signalling.

There is even an LTR version, I have a few of them, not much use for anything except parts.

Yeah, I pretty much figured it was something like that

Thanks for clearing it up.
And, about the sticker business, thanks for the good chuckle...hehe, it's been a bad day.

There is a different version of RSS made/used for the visar Radios for trunking... It is VisarPP RSS. I have used it several times.
