Can a spectra W4 or W5 be converted into a W3?
I found one post where someone converted a W7 into a W3.

Since you're asking this in the Astro forum, I assume you're referring to an Astro Spectra. If this is the case, it's possible, but it requires a version of LAB RSS to force the appropriate codeplug into the radio.

Thanks Todd!
Yes, I was thinking of Astro spectra's but now that you ask, is the same true to convert non astro W4 or W5 into a W3?

No, the process is different & tends to be much more involved for the regular Spectras. There's a lot of information on the regular Spectra conversions on Batlabs.

just as a bit of a nitpic, the W# refers to 'astro' much as an A# refers to conventional
W9 is a totally different beast than an A9
/nitpick
lol

Don't forget... you need an interface board change also.
The hardware is different where the control head cable plugs in to.

True enough, as I thought afterwards, but I'd already asked the dumb question at that point.

Thanks Guys!
Now that I've confirmed the D04UJF9W4 is on the way, can you fill me in on the details to convert it into a T04UJF9W3?
So far it sounds like I need the following...
T04UJF9W3 codeplug - Do the flashcodes need to match?
HMN4044E - W4 control head
Part #? - Front Interface board
Part #? - Remote mount control cable
Thanks!
Anymore on this

I have a W7 and a W3..
One is flashed for IMBE (the W7)...I would like to use the HHCH with that.
Since I have both radios...Can someone help me thru putting the W3 head on the W7 Radio chassis
THanks
