Monty's Reinitialize How-To. Anyone?

Before Monty's passing he posted a few times about having a How-To he had written up for blanking and reinitialized the logic board on Maxtrac's.

Anyone have that info, willing to pass it on to me? I have some VHF units that a friend wants me to reprogram. They are 16 pin logic boards, setup as 8ch, i would like to set them up as 16 or 32ch, all the posts i read through talk about blanking and reinitializing, but i don't want to screw anything up.

There was mention of taking note of soft pot settings, the tuning info, etc etc.. A lot of disorganized tid bits, i would love to read a how-to on this.

Thanks!

A lot of the info that you need should be on the Maxtrac page of the main site. But after that you have the right idea. Definately note the softpot settings prior to beginning so you can get those setting to where they were before hand.

The Maxtrac/Radius page

Here's a couple of posts I found in a search that may help as well.

I just grabbed them off the search page without going to far into them.. but you get the idea.

I will post links to download the info after i get it compiled into adobe .pdf files and uploaded to my web space. Each file, one for 16 and one for 5 pin radios, should be roughly 1.5MB, easy enough for someone on dialup to get.

I was able to get the files down to about 700kb, with a little compression, so they still have good enough quality to easily print and read, but also makes it easy for dialup users to get them without waiting forever.

Should be available for download tonight, if anyone needs them sooner just PM me with an email address.

EKLB,

If you can send me a copy of that scan I will host it and post it so anyone else looking to do the same thing can utilize it. I searched for the better part of this morning for my copy but I must have lost it.

I got the scans cleaned up and made into .pdf files and was going to also host them. But if your willing to as well i could pass them your way. Each file is small, about 700kb.

Any luck getting these hosted somewhere? I would really like to see them so I can get a maxtrac project working. Thanks

I am in the process of retyping them to make sure the PDF isn't going to be a totally huge file. I'm about halfway finished, but was sidetracked yesterday for something else. I'll probably finish it up tonight or tomorrow and get it posted.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

As promised. There are 2 PDFs for the Maxtrac board initialization procedures. After typing all the scans I received I had noticed that a lot of the information was repeated several times over. So, with a little text formating and printing to PDF I present the following to you guys. I have also e-mailed this to BatWing for inclusion for the Maxtrac/Radius pages.

I just want to say Thanx to EKLB for e-mailing me the scans to type up.

Enjoy!!

On this upgrade, you are not changing out the logic board. So you can blank the board without clearing the softpot values (I would still record them just the same BEFORE you start). From the BLANK LOGIC BOARD menu, hit F4 "BLANK BOARD with EXTENDED CODPLUG/ save TUNE DATA" . Then when you go to reinitialize the logic board, program in WITH OLD TUNE DATA. Then you don't need to retune it. I don't know if you need to enter the xtal data, but this step I always have done anyway. Double check the softpot values, and program up your 32 channels. If your model did not have scan before the upgrade, you can get a new escutcheon for a few bucks.
