Spectra Upgrade Question

Post by jlpdemag »

I have a Spectra that was used in a Smartnet II system in Houston. I have since moved to the Austin area which is a P25 digital system. My question is what do I have to do to change or upgrade my radio to work in this system if it can be done. I have searched the forums for this answer and apologize if it has already been adressed. - John

if its an analog spectra, nothing can be done to monitor that system, if its an Astro spectra, then at the maximum, the proper flashcode and programming.

Bottom line: You're not going to monitor the Austin system with a Moto radio. Since they're pure APCO-25, any radio capable of working on the system is going to force affiliation.

I'm sorry. I've tried monitoring Austin with a BC-796 and yes, it's terrible. From what I hear, PD has quit multicasting on UHF too. Dunno about FD, you could give them a shot on UHF.
