Hmmm out of a couple hundred GP's I have never had this...radio works great but can't read the code plug or even access in service mode. When I begin reading it just says accessing and then after a few minutes the radio emits a beep beep and then starts trying to access again. This continues and continues. Tried many versions and I can read many other radios so it is not my programming setup or cables. Just can't read the code plug. ANY ONE RAN ACROSS THIS SITUATION?

Dirty or corrosion on the programming contact? Inside programming contact?

Hmmm, the fact the radio is being reset by the RSS & beeps tells me the RSS connections should be ok. It never hurts to clean the inside & outside connections as Will suggested though. Have you tried to clone in another codeplug?

1. When you say the setup works with other radios, are those radios GP300s? When you say you trust the equipment, does that include the GP300 programmer or just the RIB and RIB-to-computer cable?

2. From my experience the weak point in the GP300 setup is the pin that contacts the programming contact on the radio. The point of contact is so small that a weak spring on the programmer or a small bit of junk at the contact point causing high resistance can often be the problem.

3. What power source for the radio are you using? (See below.)

And I've never like the "strap-on" GP300 programmers but prefer the Motorola plastic "clamp-on" arrangement with the radio's battery providing the radio's power.

Tried all the above, even pulled radio from chassis and connected with alignator clips direct. I have read many many GP's and P110's so I know how to get a good connection. Even cleaned entire board and checked all connections. There are no other signs of trouble, powers up, TX & RX, power, audio all fine. JUST CAN'T READ OR CHANGE CODE PLUG??? Is it possible a bad micro computer?

Just another thought.

Somone didnt by chance put a P110 multi ch electronics bd in a GP300 case and rear chasis by chance.

If so then you may actualy need the P110 stand alone program version R08.00.04 and see if the radio decides to respond.

Never know stranger things have been done.

Yeah I thought of that too. I tried P110 stand alone version..P110 & GP300, even tried GP350 and others thinking something strange happened also. It is reading the code plug but just flashes accessing then the radio beeps twice and it starts the process all over. My friend took it apart and said the problem was water damage? Junk radio now or parts.

Its not a GP300 select V without display version by chance = Theyd look the same as i rcall.

I have seen reference to the European GP300 as a 5T = 5 Tone.

Takes a special European program from what ive read.

PS Im running out of the easy ideas now.

Well thats one thing I have not tried. "Select sofware". I tried and tried but nothing works. Starts trying to read but errors out over and over.

Is it possibly a non-US version with different bandsplit that the US RSS doesn't recognize? Sounds like a different model to me. RSS sees it but doesn't work. Kind of like trying to read a Maxtrac with RADMBL.

If you get a beep, but won't read, this is the first thing that comes to mind.
