Whelen HFS4 acting possesed

Here's an interesting problem.

On my HFS4 control head, I wired the momentary switch (#6) back into the horn ring input. I did this since the lower half of the control panel is covered making the MAN button inaccessable. For 2 years, it has worked flawlessly. Now, for some reason, when I turn off the ignition which also turns off the backlight, that momentary ouput activates and stays on until I turn off the power switch. (Of course, the first time this happened, I was parked in front of the police station).

Any idea what could be making this happen?

Gonna assume that the HFS4 is wired so the unit is still hot when the ignition is off, correct? When the siren activates in that setting, does turning the ignition back to ON/RUN shut the siren off? If it did, i'd start looking at that horn / momentary source.

Yep. The main power is constant. I haven't tried turning the ignition back on. Usuallly, it scares the crap out of me and I am diving for the power switch, not thinking to turn the ignition back on. I'll have to try an experiment with that later.

It was New Years day so he wasn't there :)

Your idea of a healing ceramony would be to make a new NMO mount hole with a sawzall. Your not coming anywhere near it!! :P
