Singletone on XTS3000?

Group,

I have a UHF XTS3000 with Singletone option. Using the RAC buttons I have no problem TX'ing my singletone of 389.0 Hz. Can I set the radio up to be muted to all RX's on the channel but then open up if it recieves the 389.0 Hz for a certain amount of time? I know that it will do this for MDC but not sure for the Singletone option. Basically I want it to operate like the Quickcall option on MT2000, HT1000, etc does when recieving the proper tone. I have been experimenting with this for a while now and can not get it to work. Thanks in advance.

I believe the singletone was only intended to open repeaters that required it on the astro series. Last time I looked, there is no decode option to the radio. Singletone will not work on simplex channels (you can program it, but the radio will not send it).

Pj,

Thanks for the response. I figured that was going to be answer. Thanks again.

So I guess that alert tone I have on a simplex channel (singletone via a side button) is just a figment of my imagination?

ExKaliBur:

Do you intend to post the tracking number and ETA for the two Radius DTMF mikes you promised to send in the feed back forum under the title of ExKaliBur = No Way /Waste Of Time ?

Or are you jerking me around for the 4th time ?

Staying out of the jerking around messages above.....

I can confirm that I also have a XTS3000 that will do singletone on a simplex freq.

I was curious about this so I played around with singletone on my Astro Saber this evening and had no problem getting it to transmit the tone on simplex both automatically and via a side button.

same on my XTS, although while it did TX it on 446.000, when i programmed it to a repeater, it would NOT transmit it while i was on direct, it reverted back to the repeater input, then when i pressed PTT i was back on direct.

keep in mind i had it programmed to RAB2 and not to transmit automatically with PTT.

Yeah, I have only had it setup on a repeater pair. When transmitting with the tone, it would only on the repeater in. If I placed the radio in direct, the tone would not transmit.

If you think about it, singletone was developed for repeater access, so hence the above situation.

yea, i guess the radio isnt smart enough to figure out that when the same freq is in both TX and RX that it ISNT a repeater.. lol

PJ;

I'm curious if maybe because you have it set for Direct, it won't work. I'm thinking that maybe the radio "knows" that when you're on direct, your obviously not going through a repeater, but when you program a simplex frequency into the radio, the radio doesn't "know" if it's a repeater or not. I'll have to give the direct thingie a try.

Yup, just what I thought.

When you have a conventional personality programmed with the same TX and RX frequency (Simplex), singletone works. But, when you have it programmed with a Direct frequency, singletone only works when not on direct.
