Don'y know if this belongs here, but

I am playing with some 5 pin uhf maxtracs. I have a crap load of 800 maxtracs with 16 pin boards 9313b and the correct cpu "stuff" to make it work.

I swap the boards, blank it, and intialize it and booooooppppp

I don't understand this??? I have never had this problem in the past. I have tried this with about three different 800 boards, no luck

One of the removeable chips from the logic section has the following label
HLN9643D V11.12 (2100) 9/99 or HLN9435D V64.05 (d200) 18/96

Can some one please point me in the right direction or tell me the correct procedure, or what to look for, or what I have to do so I can make some link radios. Thanks ,Rob

you need to swap the firmware with a conventional V5.34 or higher and reinit.

Maxtrac link use

You might try reading the information in http://www.batlabs.com under the radiosection for maxtrac and pick up the information on just which firmware you might need for the application your trying to use. Some of the after market LMR firmware will probably not work for conventional channel type use.

My guess if your using the radios just for a link, then it is probably on the UHF band. You will need to clone a code plug into the radio and then change the serial numbers to match the radio.

the firmware versions he posted are for 800Mhz trunking, they will not work for a conventional radio...

the logic board WILL work just fine, just needs to have the proper firmware installed, then blanked, then reinited.

he needs HLN5569A v5.34 or higher.

Yep i second that. Just swap the firmware.

I've robbed the 16 pin boards out of more than a few Maxtracs now. I just started playing around with these radios a few months back, not to bad of a learning curve after i got used to the RSS and VCO in them.

I was only used to rock bound (crystal controlled) Moto mobiles before starting to play around with the Maxtrac.

FYI, the repeater builder technical information page will be featuring some Maxtrac articles. With so many of them showing up on the used market it was time to put some information together and present it all in one place in a format easy enough for a beginner to understand.

For info, I just stumbled across a HLN9643D ver 5.34 chip in a 2ch conventional lowband maxtrac with the 5172 logic board.
The checksum is 3500, same as the normal HLN5569 chip.

Strange they would use the same part number with such different versions (and different checksums).
