AS3 Being a PITA / No shoulder mic / no longer takes program

Hey guys,

I need some help....

MY AS3 has decided that it wants to be a PITA and now I can't use a shoulder mic for it, the programming shop says that they can't do anything for it (include put new freqs in it anymore) and they want to send it to the Depot for $350. I thought that the Depot wasn't repairing AS3's anymore???

It has a new casing on it put on by the shop (im still working with them on that issue as it was able to take a shoulder mic before they changed my case out.)

But the guy at my local MSS stated that M had a bunch of Astro Sabers stolen from them and if my radio was one of them (it was purchased off ebay) good luck with getting my radio back....

anyone have an idea of what could cause it to no longer take a shoulder mic and or programming. they are stating that its something to do internally with a bad piece on the board etc.

thanks
John

Open up the case, and see if all the connectors are properly seated. That has happened to me before...everything worked but off the access connector, and that was the issue.

Open it up and reseat everything. Its actually quite simple.

Pj,

Would love to do that but i have limited knowledge on how to open the case and do not have the proper tools and would be afraid of screwing something else up inside the radio.....

Should I just take it back to the MSS and let them reseat everything???or anyone in the las vegas area want to help me out.... willing to part with some $$ for any help avail

What the hell is it with these people? Why do people assume that all high tier Motorola portables are stolen??? WTF????

I would tell them to shove it somewhere.

It's an easy process to open the radio. A small set of needle nose pliers work for a makeshift spanner. Just loosen the two slotted nuts on the bottom (they don't come all the way off). Make sure nothing is on the accessory port. Don't hold the ptt in but grab the antenna and gently but firmly slide the radio out of the case. You might watch the bottom nuts to make sure they are completely loosened and free from the radio.

The monkeys probably messed up the internal flex circuits or something like that.
