2.4 GHz WiFi Larsen Antennas

Anyone needing a mobile antenna for WiFi (2.4 GHz) use should consider the Radiall/larsen (formerly Larsen Antennas) improved NMO mount antennas. The specialized NMO mount is designed for operations above 1 GHz (up to a max freq of 6 GHz). It uses a coax pin type center connector, rather than the NMO's typical button top design. It can be converted in the field in a matter of seconds to perform below 1 GHz by simply replacing the center connector with the standard type.

I have posted some useful links below. They have an open twin coil design with 7 dB omnidirectional gain, or a closed coil design with 5 dB gain. They also have a very short transit style ruggedized WiFi antenna.

We have used the open and closed coil antennas with our MW-800 MDT's, and we strongly prefer the twin open coil design. It's less obtrusive, and 7 dB really rocks! We can typically hit the T-Mobile WiFi systems at Starbucks from a half mile+ away, as long as it's line-of-site. Our antennas are mounted on top center of the vehicle's roof. The MW-800's optional WiFi internal transceiver is rated at 100 mW output.

Check it out, and enjoy!

Hi Larry,

Do you have any pictures of your vehicle? I would like to see a MW800 installation with external antenna. From your posts the vehicle should be fantastic....

Thanks,

You need to host the pics from somewhere then use the img switch before and after the address to the location of the picture.

If you have some web space with your isp thats the perfect place to upload and host them from.
