Spectra DEK problem

Post by Bob »

Seth and I have been discussing this in the lounge for a couple days now.

I have a D45 C7 Spectra, 6.16 MLM. I can connect the siren to the radio and control the functions from the head without any problems at all.

Plug in a DEK, enable it in the software, and reassign the siren functions to the DEK buttons. When I power the radio back on, the backlight on both the CH and the DEK come on. The second indicator from the left on the DEK lights and stays lit. The DEK is otherwise unresponsive.

Seth states that he has this problem with his A9 spectra. He's tried two different DEKs and cables - same behavior.

Any ideas?

What radios do you own?: APX / Astro 25 / Harris

I'm guessing bad DEK - you often see this when the DEK is malfunctioning.

we had a similar issue with one of our c7s and the siren unit. Our issue was that wierd noises would come through the speaker. It would randomly rebroadcast radio audio thru the public address. even when it wasnt on. some of the switch lights would also be lit, even thought the function was off. we discovered there are different versions of a chip in the c7 head. the older version wouldnt work properly w/ the siren dek. we swapped the head, and the problem went away. you may have the same issue. if you swap DEKs w/ no change, i would bet the head is the issue.

good luck!
