Hi Guys,
I got an Astro Spectra 800 MHz that won't turn on. It was working fine then one day it stopped working. It’s mounted in my car. When I turn the power on the red and yellow light come on for a few seconds then they go off. It’s trying to power up but it can't. There's no self test beep coming through the speaker. Can anyone help me with this?
PM me or email
Thanks
Rich

Your radio has probably been stunned by the system. Since it turns on and then goes dead this is the 95% likely the problem.

How did they get me? I NEVER TX just listen. I thought I could listen w/o them knowing?
How do they get the radio...Just randomly kill IDs?
Thanks

Did you check you "dim" button, to make sure it has not been pushed?

Most of the radios that I have seen that gets "stuned" just don't power on or they will say disabled in the display.
I would try reloading a codeplug, or somewhere in a previous post there was something where the radio would get locked in the "self test loop" and some combination of pushing the dimm and home buttons would disrupt the loop.
Just as a side note, my V spectra in my truck took a crap the other day.
I was riding along and I here the TOT beeping away. I look down at the radio and it is keyed down. I removed the mic, no change. Cycle power numerous times, after self check dead keys. Then it just stopped. It seems fine now.
Any way, I felt the need to share such a interesting story.. Good Luck, Rob

Most likely you have a more aggressive system administrator who either had a radio with an invalid ID attempting to affiliate and your radio was stunned as a result. Several administrators I know are zapping IDs that are either turned off and show up trying to affiliate or even doing it randomly to deter users from having radios or to determine why duplicate IDs are showing up.

Maybe they did a snapshot with system watch to see if the radio was enabled? Maybe they had a heads up that you had an illegal radio programmed on their sys.. Maybe someone you thought was a friend ratted you out to them. Maybe that particular radio has one of those government only flash's in it, and it was shut down because of that.
Lots of choices, could be any of the above, or none of the above.

Any word on whether it was a stun or an actual radio failure... and do the recovery methods suggested work ???
