This doesnt get close to showing the intensity of any lighting but I will tell you this. From what I've seen of videos vs real life, when you see a lot of vertical lines in the video, that means the light is so bright it's distorting things. Of videos I've taken personally and others I've seen in both video and real life if puts those vertical lines when the lights are so bright it hurts your eyes.
Anyway...

AVFD:
You brought up a interesting topic...I wonder how many on here have home-brewed led lighting.
I know I have, and a few other local people...the most success was with commercial LED-breaklights for the lights, and an AVR Microcontroler to produce strobe paterns...What are other people doing?

Well in case you want to know I use easy to purchase 5mm leds. I run these in parallel and run them off a show-me led flasher. Now the question everyone wants answered, "how many do you use and do you use a resistor?" I run 30 leds in each circuit and don't space them out far like the show-me's. I can cram 60 leds easy with room to spare for 10 more into a deckblaster. As for calculating the resistance needed. That easy, just use this site:

Very interesting; that calc website is cool. I want to covert the tail/brake lights on my '97 burban to LED....this will be fun!
Anyone ever try this? I guess I have to buy some big pieces of circuitboard and get myself a dremel drill press. Any recommendation on how many MCD's I should use for brake/tail lights?

you want to replace them with panel LEDs or do you want the quick and easy LED/BULB replacements? they're socket compatible w/ your OEM housing and wiring.

Those bulb replacements look like crap plus they only have like 8LED's facing the rear. I want mine to resemble the LED taillights on the new Cadillac's (large full surface area). So I suppose I will need a large circuitboard or a series of and a pair of donor taillights.

Well if you want to convert your taillights to led may I suggest you look here
http://www.superbrightleds.com/1157.htm Think you will find they are more than 8 leds, you can get 12 or 19 led replacements.

That 20LED module looks enticing because it has lateral LED's that will utilize th reflector. Maybe I'll buy a pair and test it out.

I really hate it when people steal my avatar. I wish there was some way I could protect it. Maybe imbed a virus or malicious script in it. Anyway, dude get original and get your own avatar.
