Ok....
Is there a console that can take the place of the factory console incl(gear shifter/emergency brake)so i can get my cdm head's mounted?I have tried everything, these heads just take up too much room.. and nothing seems to look good....So i am looking at this idea now...I didn't want the cockpit to look like a "county vehicle" with that "state bid look" Just 2 cdm heads.. that's all i ask..the radios will go in the rear cargo area under that trap doorleading to that "sunken area"
thanks gig

I had a 96 Blazer which is similar to yours. You will either have to get a supported stand or take the console out. If you take it out, just buy a console the tilts and goes the full lentgh of the seats to cover the bare body. -Scott

I think your best option is to just get a vertical stacking unit and mount it.. or mount one under each panel under the dash? One guy got clever and mounted a radio in the side pocket on the door of his car.

hey man,
thanks for the tip... I have been receiving many tips from people thanks to all,
but i think i like the center console idea the best but that damn gearshifter is in the way.... company car so i can't :o well to much.. the verti stackable thing is an idea but i hate the way it looks.... I put in a call to jotto and to oddessey hopefully one or both will come up with something... if i have to pay then so beit...
but thanks for the tip and if anything else come up please let me know!

Just an idea for you, a friend mounted a Spectra head in this Jeep Cherokee (Has a center shifter) by removing the center console and screwing in a bracket that came out from underneath to the passenger side.
So they were mounted on the side of the center console. No holes visible so the company wouldn't be mad.

Yeah, that's a smart idea... if you are planning on gently closing the doors
every time.

And your radio is weatherproof. A face up maxtrac wouldn't take the rain too well.

i don't see that as clever, i see that as unimaginative and poorly thought out. as noted above.

If I remember Correctly, I believe there is an aftermarket kit to put two radios into one control head!! Don't quote me on that one but I remember some discussion about it on the board!!
