I have a XTS3k that has been programmeed with cps04.01.02. My question is can I (should I) use the astro lab to back up the radio in case the radio is inhibited or programmed with the advanced sys key. Is it possible to use read w/o pack unpack and then save the archive file so I can just dump that back into the radio if something happens. Thanks matt

You seem to alude to the fact that you have the chance of having your radio inhibited. Backing up your codeplug and putting it back into the radio will get you no where.
Buy a scanner.

Another unauthorized user, and people wonder why they shouldn't have them. Just look at some of the words in the text, astro lab, inhibited and xts3000.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what has happened here, sell you xts and buy a scanner.

RANT ON
Why in God's name do all you people want to turn
TWO-way, (operative word(s) being two way)..radio's into scanners on trunked systems, or, worse yet putting them on systems WITHOUT authority....and using said service..why.... to be cool...
To listen?????

TO USE without authority....
Alex, SG batdude etc are right....buy a friggin scanner if you are so worried that you will be inhibited.............
I have no desire to listen to trunked traffic...if I did a scanner is a far better choice....I hear enough stuff at work as it is....
