I am looking a purchasing a HT1250, but my dept uses Selectone DTMF PTT ID's installed in Kenwood radios. Does the HT1250 support this feature or allows a DTMF board to be installed?? Thanks!

Uses MDC1200
But you could use a Cimarron multi-format decoder.....works well.

You can add the DTMF Decode Option Board. (AAHLN9729C) for the ht1250. that would solve the problem with the decode issue.

I just checked the personality of my HT1550XLS and it does DTMF PTT ID without any additional boards. I'd have to dial into my shop to access a HT1250 codeplug, but I'm fairly confident they support it without any additional boards, as well.

HT1250s will support DTMF PTT ID out of the box.

The additional option board is required to enable DTMF functions on receive including Call Alert, Select Call, and Decoded ID display.

Do you know if within the programming of the PTT ID if there is a delay that can be set on the tx of the ID. We purchased Kenwood TK-380's and had to install Selectone DTMF boards becasue there wasn't enough of a delay at the beginning of the TX.

In the CPS software, you can specify pre time (what you are looking for), whether the ID is sent at the start of TX, end of TX, both, or not at all. You can also program the digit length, and inter-digit time.

My department had DTMF signalling for years we just recently switched to MDC1200 when we got the new radios. Much better. Instead of the very expensive Cimmaron Tec. decoder, we use an old GM300 moblie from a cruiser set to decode PTT IDs and Emergency IDs works good because we only have 2 number IDs. If your department has more than 2 number IDs might I suggest the CDM1250 or you can go all out and have the Chief get a dispatch console. The HT1250 will do DTMF PTT ID also.

I have a police department using Kenwood TK-290 radios and they are looking to transition to HT1250's. Everything is good but the question is emergency signaling compatibility. They are not making a full migration and currently the emergency signalling to their dispatch console is a key feature. They have the "ANI option module" in their Kenwoods. They are using a Zetron Model 4010 dispatch console. Will the HT1250 offer a compatible emergency signal through its onboard MDC or another similar option or is this a no go?

Yes, the HT1250 does transmit MDC1200 emergency signalling. We use the Zetron 4020 console at my agency to decode the MDC emergency from our HT1250's.
