Ok, 2000 Ford Expedition. Installed a Whelen Alpha 12R remote siren. Wired in the horn ring line as indicated in the install guide. Horn relay trips fine but horn won't ring. Hands free siren feature works fine as it should. Do the fords have trouble with the horns and voltage drop? Only thing that changed was the run from the horn back to the alpha switch. Thanks for any insight.

I just installed one of these units a week or so ago.

On a normal Whelen dashmount siren the horn feature is enabled by the ON/OFF switch. When the switch is in the ON position, the horn ring operates the siren. When the switch is in the OFF position the horn ring operates the factory horn for the vehicle.

In a remote mount siren situation you do not have the ON/OFF swictch capability. So you must install a transfer switch or a relay between the horn and the siren to be able to use both features. If you have done this make sure you have checked and rechecked your wiring on your switch/relay to ensure you are on the right contacts. If you have not installed a transfer switch it will be very simple.

Hope this helps.. ran into the same problem..
