After having my new durango broken into last night, I decided to go with the a9 spectra hard mounted
can I use one of the vip ports on the control head to trip the siren?
It sounds good in my head, but no clue how I'd do it

Did they get anything or just damage it?
They like to just break windows here without taking anything...

Sounds like a smash and grab... not like they had time to do anything; an A9 siren would just make a damn lot of noise and let you know you'd been broken into.

With a license plate of M16A1, you think someone would know better.

Sounds like kids... probably thought they might score some drugs outta the jump pack too, would have loved to see the dissapointed look on their faces when all they found was wound-dressings and oxygen supplies. They obviously weren't whackers cause otherwise they would have noticed the saber's and scanner.
Dont know much about the spectra sirens, but i have my alarm hooked up to the air horn tone on my siren thorugh the horn ring connection.... VERY LOUD AND DISTURBING!!!! I LOVE IT

I just got a mental image of some kid half way in the window poopin' himself when he hears a loud-ass airhorn at 100% duty cycle.

yes ive nearly pooped myself when ive accidently hit the panic button on the keyless entry. Plus EVERY alarm on the market sounds the same so the air-horn is nice and distinctive

Ditto.
I use a real mechanical 60 Amp Siren hooked to the Alpine Alarm.
Also a radar/proximity sensor(DEI) that pulses the Siren when you approach the Honda.
Piezoelectric Glass Shock sensor (Alpine) on front windshield, dual
zone shock sensor(DEI) in rear trunk. I Plan on adding one of these to the Front engine compartment.
All door/trunk/hood pin switches working, and serviced regularly.
noone goes near the vehicle more than once.
You can hear the alarm a block away in the house with the windows shut, and the Air conditioning on.
It is very very loud. Like the Ambulance that it came from......
Especially when the Alarm trips, and it stays locked on for 3 minutes. Damn near deafening if you are within 50 feet of it.
I Hit the Panic button before near a fire truck racing with it's siren on.
Couldn't really tell the difference. Maybe it was the same model siren.
In any case, It is at least twice as loud as the X9000 box, conservatively.
I did originally want to use the Moto box but I still have to get the manual for the HLN1185B.
Or else you'd have to leave the radio on. I never got around to it.
That's why I went with the Mechanical siren. It was easier. And I'm Lazy.

Bummer. Sorry to hear about the breakin dude.
What does the law where you are say about using car alarms that sound like sirens? It's a no-no in a lot of places, so it might be worth a look if you haven't checked into it.

You might consider adding some lighting as well (covert strobes, potentially.) Nothing like a few disco lights to make a skel a bit nervous.

Hey, the [idiot] would be easy to find. Just follow the brown trail to find him, when he thinks he just broke into a cop truck!

Yeah, I can turn the other cheek for a $400 window and an old cell phone
Not $2500 in radio gear.

Bite your tongue, boy, insinuating I'm a damn Yankee! I'm from Tejas, born and raised... insinuating a Texan is some kind of Yankee is a death penalty offense!
I like to include various regional dialects in my legal terminology.

Skel, hood, crook, perp, crime looking for a victim... a million different terms for the same thing.
