Has anyone found a DECENT replacement yet?
I need replace my entire fleet within the next six months, and there's no way in hell I'm going with HT750s. The MTS2000 is on it's way out shortly too, so I'm not sure that's an option.
I hate to stray from Motorola, but I'm starting to think we have to consider other options.

Kenwood TK-2180 (vhf) or TK-3180 (uhf). We've been using them for months with no problems. Dropped a few and they keep working. There's keypad and non-keypad versions. Both vhf and uhf models are pretty wide-banded. The 3180 does 450-520MHz. A lot of features and though I haven't filled one up yet I think the scan lists can be as big or small as you want, and have different options like per zone-lists or across zones, like an MT2000 or Astro Saber can do. Programming items are cheaper than Mot's and very easy to understand and operate. I'm not affiliated with Kenwood at all. I've been recommending these radios, and the TK-8150 or 8180 mobiles, to anyone that's asking for new radio recommendations because so far, we've had nothing but success with them.
PS, forgot to mention that we looked at Vertex and liked them. However, the Kenwoods were wider-banded and we liked the way the features actually worked in the radios.

Ditto on the TK-2180s, although those with tons of Jedi accessories may want to look at the PR-series radios for the compatibility there.
I'm not a big fan of the Vertex (VX900 specifically)... friend of mine had one to play with (looking for an HT1000 replacement too) and discovered the mic audio on the built-in mic was very "localized" - you had to have your mouth right over the mic to get good transmit dev.

Looks like:
Ht1000 replaced by PR1500 (conv only)
MTSX replaced by MT1500 (adds trunking)
bridge from above to digital is XTS1500 (adds Dig & trunk)
All of the above will take jedi accessories.

All but the PR1500 are only 700 or 800Mhz right now, VHF/UHF to follow supposedly this year but who knows when?..... They all look identical except the PR1500 is black and the others are grey. Who's making these for them, Fisher-Price?

I don't see any DTMF options for the PR1500 or PR860.......bummer.

I like the 32 channels on the PR1500 but as far as the look, I'm not a big fan. Maybe because its new and I'll have to get used to it. Anybody have an idea on price range?
