Anyone know of a defualt nac to allow decoding of all P25 traffic on a chanel?? I know of the XTS you can select DSQ but there is no such option on the Stealth as far as I can tell. the radio wont take F7E as an entry.

Sent a pm.

Try entering 3966. It will covert that to F7E in the hex field on the right.

I heard this was the nac equivalent to digital carrier squelch but I'm not sure.

I can't enter an F7E in my racal on the keypad to test it.

It's been awhile since I played with a Stealth-25, but 3966 is definitely worth a try along with talkgroup 65535 which should give you "Digital CSQ" receive. It is possible the radio's firmware doesn't properly implement F7E/3966, though.

If there is a checkbox in the PC Trunk programming software called "Digital Squelch" near the RX NAC, I believe that is EFJ's name for "Digital Carrier Squelch", so you might try that as well.

Most importantly, if you have a Stealth-25:

DON'T EVER TRY TO PROGRAM IT WITH PC CONFIGURE!

It will turn into a paperweight. Always use PC Trunk on that radio...

The early versions of PC Configure had a menu choice for the 5000 series radio (a.k.a. Stealth-25), but it would mess up the radio when you tried to program with it. They finally did remove the 5000 radio option in the later versions of PC Configure...

mancow: I've always been able to enter hex NAC's with A-F characters on all sorts of Racals. Just press the 2 or 3 key multiple times quickly, same as you are entering a text channel name.

And pretty much any Racal (unless it has really really old firmware) should properly support the F7E "any NAC" function.

Thanks for the info 515. I have the radio programmed as conventional only and am trying to decode the Digital transmissions and can't , I've tried the defualt nac of 3966 but not with DCS selected. Is there a defualt DCS code ????

The newer EFJ PC Configure has the "Digital Squelch" checkbox near the RX NAC field. I can't remember if PC Trunk had the same thing, though.

But if PC Trunk does, "Digital Squelch" really means "Digital Carrier Squelch". If you have the option of checking it, ideally the radio will unmute on any NAC it receives, regardless of the NAC programmed into the RX NAC field.

Of course if you are programming the channel via the front panel, entering a NAC of 3966 and TG of 65535 is the only way to get Digital CSQ.

I can select "Mixed" for receve which allows me to select CSQ or DSQ but I don't know if that will do it or not, I'll give it a shot.

Thanks for the info.

I couldn't figure out how to get the alpha hex digits to come up.
