Anyone here have experience with car alarms? I've got an customer who is asking for an recommendation on a system with an good remote page/monitoring range.

I think it's possible to hook up an mobile radio to boost the range?

This is the best one that I've ever installed and I use it on both my hehicals. I have had the remote alert me from over a mile away and I can controll my car from a mile away. It has confirmation beep so you know that the signal was sent/recieved. You could hook up an external antenna for better range too. I did that with the first on I installed in my car. I think its on 315 or 400? Mhz. It uses a RCA connector, that you can adapt to.

Does anyone here have any experience with Viper or Clarion car/auto alarm two way paging systems?

The special request is extending the range of the two way page on alarms since they own an fleet of well equppied telecommunhications service vans.

Has anyone here rigged a seperate mobile radio to such extender?

The clarion or ungo alarm pager is a 433 mhz transmitter but it is limited to about 1/8 of a mile range . viper, ungo, avital, clifford, etc. are all made by DEI , all have similar distance of pager module. I have tested several units. and most are about the normal distance of a walmart parking lot in length. if you want more i would recommend an add-on pager that you clip on yourself not a pager\2way system. the addon give you option to hook up to an external radio antenna. or you could go via skytek i think, they have a phonelink to call a cell number and page via cellular signal. you may expect big bucks for this one.
