Secure Hardware failed or not present.

If you have a crypto module in your radio:
It's failed or come loose - try remove/reinstalling it.

If you don't have a crypto module in your radio:
Disable Secure Hardware Equipped in CPS.

what can you do with a xts5000 module if it has failed?

my xts 5000 started to give the error 09/10 code yesterday after 3-4 years of faithful service.

is this module toast or can something be done?

i have tried pulling it and reinstalling it.

thanks

Well it should have wiped the key when you pulled it so the next step is to keyload it again and see if it sticks

Try putting the radio into service mode and see if the secure version and algo's show up on the display..

Stupidity creates job security!

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..

CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

i found an extra module and swapped it out the new module works fine.

put the suspect module in another radio.

nothing again.

so i have isolated it to the module .

can anything be done with it?

Send it back to Motorola for a replacement. They are not designed to be field repairable for obvious reasons. When one goes suspect they just swap it out for a new one at the depot.

One thing to look for are some gold plated metal tabs coming off the board. Make sure they are not broken off at all. These either go to ground or short out to each other when installed to make the radio see the module. I haven't had a portable apart in a while to see what those tabs do but I do know this is the case with a mobile.
