Slightly off topic as I'm not discussing a M radio, but it's "Astro" related nevertheless ...

Since EF Johnson is making P25 radios, I thought I'd ask them for a portable quote. Here is what I got :

...please see the following proposal for a 5100 series EF Johnson portable radio. This price represents a complete package including: 5212-610-20 VHF, 5W, 136-174MHz, Model II, Analog/P25 Conventional, 512 Channels/Talkgroups, Battery, Antenna, Belt Clip, rapid rate single unit charger. Also included per your request is the complete programming kit (250-5100-003 PC Configure Programming Kit (Software, Cable, Manual on CD).

The package price for all the preceding items is $2495.00 including all shipping and handling.

All I can say is that my partner in crime got some EFJ's to demo on our P25 trunk system, and he boxed them up and sent them back. I'd like to do that with my M/A-Com P7100's, since I STILL don't have the P25 feature encryption unlocked, but that's not my call. At least our XTS/XTL 5k's are working.
