Failsoft sucks

Post by MTS2000des »

sorry after 16+ hours of listening to "beep beep" every 30 seconds I had to vent somehwere. Our county is moving their primesite and thus we are in failsoft but MAN...this is like Chinese water torture.

Serious question though, is it possible for the "beep beep" FS tone to be disabled somehow?

on/off switch kills it.

Lance: What?
Kilgore: Napalm, son. Nothing in the world smells like that.
Kilgore: I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end...

I don't believe you can kill the alert tone, you can turn off FS via RSS, but that's about it. Although I have never tried to kill the FS tone, sounds like a new project for me today at work. :D :D

The on/off will kill it for sure though.

Seriously....if you don't have to have the repeaters on, turn them off until you get the site controller back online.

problem is, then all our PD will have NO communications. Yes, someone had the bright idea to strip out all the old UHF Syntors and Spectras we had because Ma M's sales team convinced them they were no longer needed.

We are on day 3 of failsoft. the FTR has supposedly escalated this issue. I am not in that area but I suspect there is a problem with the new SZ controller our county bought.

What a PITA though. and what really sucks is this is going to happen all over again when rebanding hits our region...

I won't even go into the FTR problems I've seen here.

Although there was the one time a certain cable set was unplugged by the FTR to "solve" a problem between a primary and backup PSAP.

Oh, it solved the problem alright, except it knocked out every incoming phone line to the consoles for about 3 hours.

That is, until on of the dispatchers found the unplugged cable set in the floor grid.

well after three plus days of failsoft, it is back up. Now they are trying to deal with another issue, audio in some areas sounds "garbled" almost digital weak signal like, (we are using a pure analog system)...almost like the transmitters are out of phase.

Not sure what the holdup is. Waiting to hear from our sys admin why it took so long. It was only supposed to be down for a few hours.

It is just good to have it back online.
