A friend of mine know's a guy selling his XTS5000 Vhf model 1 and i was wondering if anyone can advise me if the radio is an IMBE and not a VSELP. Just want to make sure it will work in digital voice mode with my XTS5000 Vhf model 2. Here's the radio's information that he provided me, Model # H18KEC9PW5AN, Firmware: R02.00.03, DSP :R02.00.03 and the Flashcode option includes Q806/G806 IMBE / APCO-25 Digital Operation.
Can anyone advise me if this is a IMBE radio?. Thanks.
Motorola XTS5000 Model 1, Vhf?

Should be IMBE but be advised, that firmware is OLD. There have been many bug fixes since that version.
Ask your friend what the serial number is. I'll wager it is 123abc1234. Good luck getting a firmware refresh from Motorola on that radio.
If the radio is going to be used on a public safety system and it is a 123abc radio then I suggest you not get it. If the radio has a legit s/n then it should be fine although I highly suggest it have a firmware refresh done and a proper alighment.

You can flash it through the CPS if you can get the upgrade from Motorola.
I'm not sure if you can get the Flash kit based upon that s/n. Not sure what the requirements would be when you place the order. You can always call and request a firmware refresh and see what info they require.
I'd have to go back through release notes but one that I've seen with some of our radios had to do with the following:
Astro mode slow to unmute (misses part of call from console).
Radio button response sluggish when using non-smart battery with low battery tone disabled (this was a definite bug in 2.20)
The max volume was raised making the radio equivelant to the XTS3k.
No hot mic audio after hitting emergency button.
Some radios would have the PTT stick in TX. This was a hardware defect with a small percentage of radios. Fix is to get a new housing.
There are more issues but those are the ones I remember. As I stated before if the radio is going to be used for public safety then I would strongly suggest getting the firmware update, which may not be possible for that radio.
