Astro Saber + CPS problems...HELP =-)

Post by usmcguttentag »

I have a Motorola Astro Saber III VHF. Ever since I got it, I have had a problem with the operation. It seems almost everytime I turn the radio on, it sounds like I am not recieving properly, almost like the squelch is turned up with a singal far away. For example, I have 162.550 programmed in as a test channel. When I turn the unit on, it tests fine and turns on, but it comes in and out, and that is on every channel and zone. Sometimes, maybe every 10 times turning on and off, it will work fine. Does anyone know why this is happening?

2. CPS. I have Astro CPS R04.00.00 for the Astro Spectra and Saber or RVN4184K. It is an older version of CPS. When I read the codeplug, it says codeplug too new. Is there a way around this? also I upgraded to another version which worked, but now when I try it, it says I have a catastropic error, but it doesn't specify what, can anyone help me on this one, it's really appreciated.

What radios do you own?: X9000 thru APX

Did you buy the software from M? If not, there is a good chance that the CPS you are using isn't complete when it came from whatever source.

Once you upgrade the codeplug with newer verison of RSS/CPS, you cannot return to a previous verison.

Describe exactly what you radio is doing on that channel.

Host/DSP verison?
Flashcode?

Does it happen on any other channel? Are you using PL or CSQ?

Chances are, you need to have your radio aligned on a serive monitor at a shop, unless you know someone with one and knows how to use it.
