PURC 5k noob questions

OK, So I got around the pesky codeplug by digging an ACB out of a purc5k 900 paging station, and retrofitting it to my range2 purc5k. As of now, I have the station powered up, I have set the acb from 900mhz range 1 to vhf range 2, and tried to enter a new tx treq. with no avail.

I do not have the w1470 that connects from the backplane of the ACB to the HSS board in the syn tray and link rx tray. I will be getting a wiremap from a friend in a couple of days and will be building one up, no problem there...

I would like to know what would preclude me from being able to enter a new tx frequency. I will elaborate:

The ACB has a single tx frequency of 930-something.I have moved the acb to vhf range 2 and frequency range checking has been disabled. When I go to the tx ch frequency entry, I can enter the new frequency, say 154.000 for a test. If I press ENT it reverts to the old 900 freq. If I enter the frequency and hit TOG, the new frequency will "stick" untill I press exit, upon which it will revert to the original 900 freq. Even with frequency range checking enabled, it still will not allow entry of a frequency in any of the 32 positions.

Firmware is 3.57 ( I think) and all 8 dip switches on the ACB are set to the ON position. The unit is accessable through the default password. does the lack of connection between the HSO shelf and the ACB preclude the entry for frequencies? Doesn't seem logical, as all other settings are variable it it's absence.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, Will
