new to astro question

Post by fire_master_21 »

I got my hand on a AS3 nice radio. I have already been blessed by mother M for the CPS bought and paid for to her and it is now on the way. But here is where the question comes in do i need a smart rib to program this or will my other original rib work? TIA.

A regular 4008 rib (or compatable) will work. If you have an analog saber programming cable, it can be easly modified to work with the AStro saber by swapping pins 6 and 8.

You will need a smart rib if you ever want to load new firmware into your radio. The 4008 rib will be OK for CPS programming needs, but not for any firmware uplifts that you may need now, or in the future.
