I know that Code3 product dosn't seem to be the most popular around these parts... BUT ... I'm stuck on something. I've installed a RLS 3999 in my F450 Towtruck, Mainly for the remote lighting controls and the arrow stick controller that's built in. It's tied to a Javilin with a combination of ledx and optics.. really like this bar.

Anyway back to the siren problem ... All i want/need from the the siren amp is the PA and airhorn tone ... been trying to use the parkill function by just grounding that connection and according to the manual it's still supposed to allow PA and airhorn and disable all else. Instead I get no output at all.

Any ideas, thoughts, critique?

Thanks, Kevin de VE4KWG

Kevin,

I have tangled with an RLS on a previous job, and aside from the siren sounding like a playschool toy, and I think it's an ok unit. As for the park kill issue, I would just suggest leaving all of it alone, and just use the airhorn and PA.

Better safe than sorry and its all too easy to encourage the magic smoke to appear.

Just my thoughts.

Yep .... letting the magic smoke out of the chips would be a bad thing, but so would a stray finger firing up a siren instead of worklights in our local PD's compound!! :o

I'm sure someone will come up with something

On the RLS install that myself and BPD109 did in my work vehicle, I found a jumper on the back of the control head that controls what the siren does when you flip on the slide switch. The choices are wail, yelp, and off... I set mine to off, because I dont always want the siren to come on when I flip the slide... Does that help any?
